Get to Know Lauren
Lauren Lorati is an LA-based actress and singer from Portland, Oregon and a graduate of Pepperdine University’s Theatre and Music program. She originated the roles of Katharine Johnson in Flashes of Light and Vicki in Kid Gloves, and has established herself in Los Angeles regional theatre with credits at 5-Star Theatricals, The Colony Theatre, Sierra Madre Playhouse, and Skylight Theatre. In recent years, Lauren had the privilege of appearing in Disney’s West Coast premieres of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Newsies, as well as the West Coast premiere of Calvin Berger. She was awarded a scholarship and named a State Showcase winner at the Oregon Thespian State Festival, and graduated with honors from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Music.
Lauren performed lead roles in numerous plays and musicals during her time at Pepperdine, with highlights including Rosie in Mamma Mia!, Serena in Futureproof, and Hall in Men on Boats. She was also an active member of Pepperdine’s Improv Troupe, as well as a regular cast member of Contempo, a contemporary musical theatre performance troupe that premiered new works by composers such as Eli Cohen, David Fraley, and Socks Whitmore.
Along with her work in theatre, Lauren has also performed as a classical vocalist for most of her life. Over the past decade, she has sung throughout New York, California, and Portland as a member of the Pacific Youth Choir, Pepperdine’s Concert Choir, among others, and has sung numerous solo recitals and placed in NATS competitions throughout the Pacific Northwest. Eager to expand upon her musical abilities, Lauren is currently learning the banjo and accompanied herself alongside her fellow company members in the world premiere of Americana: A Murder Ballad for the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.
Lauren attended Pepperdine under scholarship with both the Theatre and Music programs. She has studied with Lesly Kahn & Co., The Groundlings, Ruth Dobson, Kate Bass, Alan Simpson, Carla Stickler, Jacob Haren, Emily Jenda, Nic Few, Cathy Thomas-Grant, Hollace Star, Scott Alan Smith, Brian Michael Jones, Katie O’ Grady, Louise Lofquist, Meredith Pyle, Keith Colclough, and others.
